A reverent sacred artwork of Saint Lydia of Thyatira, shown with a cross in traditional icon style against a warm gold background. Lydia lived in Thyatira in Asia Minor, in present-day Turkey, and is remembered in the Acts of the Apostles as a seller of purple cloth. While living in Philippi, in present-day Greece, she heard Saint Paul preach, opened her heart to the Gospel, and became one of the earliest known Christian converts in Europe. After her baptism, she welcomed Paul and his companions into her home, making her household a place of faith, hospitality, and support for the growing Church. She is honored for generosity, courage, devotion, and faithful witness in daily work and business.
