Saint Augustine of Hippo – Icon Print, Doctor of the Church Gift

SAINT AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO ICON PRINT

This Saint Augustine of Hippo icon honors the great bishop, theologian, and Doctor of the Church in a serene Byzantine-inspired image of wisdom, conversion, and sacred teaching. Born in Tagaste, in present-day Algeria, in AD 354, Augustine later became closely associated with Hippo Regius, where he served as bishop and shaped Christian thought through preaching and writing. He is especially remembered for his profound conversion, his search for truth, and his enduring spiritual legacy in works such as the Confessions and The City of God. In this icon, the open book reflects teaching and theological depth, while his raised hand suggests blessing, guidance, and pastoral care. The luminous gold background and rich red vestments give the image a calm sacred presence shaped by intellect, devotion, and faith.
